Wildlife Update 25/9/12 – by Collin

This past week has been a beautiful, wildlife-filled one at Campi ya Kanzi, with colorful birds and many types of unique gazelles.  Here you see the gorgeous plumage of the lilac-breasted roller, reminding us that safaris at Campi are not all about the Big Five – there are incredible sights for bird-watchers as well.

And here we have a gerenuk seen just outside of Campi ya Kanzi.  Also known as the “giraffe antelope” due to its long neck, the gerenuk often stands erect on its hind legs and stretches to reach foilage that cannot be eaten by smaller antelopes and gazelles.  A true treat for a safari on a beautiful September day!
