Venturing out of Camp!

While staying with us, guests not only have the opportunity to relax in the Tembo House, go on countless game drives, and enjoy deliciously prepared Italian cuisine by lantern light – but also have the chance to escape camp if they chose.

There is an option to visit the traditional Maasai village of Iltilal, just 30 minutes away from camp to visit traditional homes, pay visit to a Primary School, and visit the local Dispensary.

Your Maasai guide will explain all there is to know about this traditional lifestyle
Here, guests will be taken by their Maasai guide and tracker to their traditional bomas (homes) where guests will get to explore the interiors and exteriors of the traditional-style construction, as well as the areas where livestock is kept during the night.

Guests may also feel the need to venture on a slightly longer journey to the town of Loitokitok that is approximately 90 minutes away from camp. Here guests will have the opportunity to visit a local market, interact with many local people, shop for a variety of items, and test out their Kiswahili language!

And of course, along the way there is a great chance to view beautiful wildlife and scenery!
A beautiful day for a drive to the village
You can even try out your bargaining skills with the locals to purchase some brightly coloured shukas!
So many to choose from!
Venturing out after breakfast will have you comfortably back in camp by lunch time for an experience that will indefinitely bring you closer to the Kenyan Maasai culture!
