Essential items to pack for your Safari
Imagine yourself out on the plains of Southern Kenya watching the antelope grazing and the elephants sunbathing around the watering hole. You’re in a state of perfect harmony as you capture that perfect shot. However, as soon as you turn on your camera, you get the red, flashing warning sign of doom. Your camera is out of batteries. If only you had thought to pack some extras.
Don’t let this be you. Pack for any safari catastrophe, no matter how big or how small, with these helpful tips.
Although your safari guide will most likely have a basic first aid kit on hand, it doesn’t hurt to bring a personal kit with you. Some things you will want to pack are a bottle of sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30, antiseptic gel to wash your hand when you’re away from clean water, mosquito repellant to drive away the bugs, band-aids for any boo-boos, and a swiss army knife for any emergencies you find yourself in. You may also want to pack some snacks and water depending on how long your journey will be.
Electronic Devices
Although you might want to shut off from the world and delve into the Animal Kingdom, there are some electronic devices that will make your experience even more amazing. The first is your camera. Depending on how serious of a photographer you are, you will want to bring a camera that will capture your moments for a lifetime. Be sure to also bring spare memory cards and camera batteries to ensure you never miss a moment. You may also want to bring binoculars so that you can easily see the wildlife around you, as well as a small flashlight for emergencies and an electrical adaptor.
